When Does Candidate Experience Begin?

At Survale we surveyed a few hundred HR professionals and asked them at what point does candidate experience begin. Most responded that candidate experience begins when a candidate views the job ad or the career site, which is correct. However, when we asked if and when they measured candidate experience, the ones that do said they do measure it, started the feedback process mostly after interviews or hires.

In other words, despite the knowledge that candidate experience begins at the career site, most organizations said they don’t ask candidates how its going until they come on for an interview. This is way too late.

As we’ve written before, 99% potential candidates never apply. And of those who apply, only a small percentage get to the interview stage. When you think about it, what kind of picture does that paint of your candidate experience?

A picture that ignores all those candidates who may have had a difficult online experience, all those who were interested but unwilling to submit a complete application, and all those who interacted with your brand who likely have valuable feedback and are potential future candidates.
